Rimmon

God of the Syrians of Damascus (2 Kgs. 5: 18), identified by them with the sun god Hadad (Zech. 12: 11). Among the Babylonians he was the god of the air, wind, thunder, and rain.

Pomegranate. A Beerothite, father of Baanah and Rechab, the murderers of Ishbosheth (2 Sam. 4: 2, 5, 9).

A place in Judah in the Negeb (Josh. 15: 32; 1 Chr. 4: 32; Zech. 14: 10).

The rock Rimmon in the wilderness of Benjamin, about 3 1/2 miles east of Bethel (Judg. 20: 45, 47; Judg. 21: 13).
