Tempt, Temptation

A test of a person's ability to choose good instead of evil; an enticement to sin and follow Satan instead of God.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Matt. 6: 13 (3 Ne. 13: 12). God will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able to bear, 1 Cor. 10: 13. Christ was tempted like as we are, Heb. 4: 14-15. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation, James 1: 12-14. The temptations of the adversary cannot overpower those who hearken unto the word of God, 1 Ne. 15: 24 (Hel. 5: 12). Man could not act for himself save he was enticed by the one or the other, 2 Ne. 2: 11-16. Watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, Alma 13: 28. Teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, Alma 37: 33. Pray always lest ye enter into temptation, 3 Ne. 18: 15, 18 (D&C 20: 33; 31: 12; 61: 39). Beware of pride, lest thou shouldst enter into temptation, D&C 23: 1. Adam became subject to the will of the devil because he yielded to temptation, D&C 29: 39-40. I was left to all kinds of temptations, JS-H 1: 28.
