The fourth President of the Church following the restoration of the gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. He was born in 1807 and died in 1898.

Was called to fill a position in the Council of the Twelve, D&C 118: 6. Was among the choice spirits reserved to come forth in the fulness of times, D&C 138: 53. Received a revelation to stop plural marriage in the Church, D&C OD-1.
