The Prophet Joseph Smith received Doctrine and Covenants 89 [D&C 89] during a meeting of the School of the Prophets on February 27, 1833, in Kirtland, Ohio. Known as the Word of Wisdom, this revelation came in response to the Prophet's inquiry relating to the smoking and chewing of tobacco by the elders and in consideration of Emma Smith, who cleaned up the filthy floor.
